The Triumph of the Rights of God

Updated: Jan 19, 2023

Prayer to Christ the KingO Christ Jesus, I acknowledge Thee King of the Universe. All that has been made has been created for Thee. Make full use of Thy rights over me. I renew the promises I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and works, and I promise to live a good Christian life; and especially I undertake to help, to the extent of my means to secure the triumph of the rights of God and of Thy Church. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee my efforts to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge Thy Sacred Royalty, and that so the Kingdom of Thy peace may be established throughout the entire universe. Amen. That phrase about the “rights of God and of Thy Church” is important. We hear a lot about “rights”. We are all quick to speak of our own rights, or the rights of a particular group. But think about it, where do your rights come from? And do you want your rights to be determined by society and the ever-changing will of the people or by the unchanging will of God?  Personal truth is no truth at all because it must be grounded in reality. And reality comes from God who ordered the world and everything in it.

The Rights of God Beyond our own rights, do we ever speak of or even think about the rights of God? It wasn’t something I thought much about until I read that phrase in prayer. God is the Creator of all things. He planned, designed, created and placed each one of us here in this particular time to know Him, love Him, and serve Him, and then to be happy with Him in heaven. He has a right to be worshipped, loved and obeyed because He is God! And the only reason we have any rights, such as the right to life, is because He gave them to us! The only reason we enjoy anything on this earth is because it is His gift! Do we really think about that? Or show gratitude?

Prayer leads to understanding and peace The rights of God include respecting His authority, His design, and His plan. The closer you come to know the Lord (through prayer), the closer you come to understand His plan, and experience real peace, contentment and joy. If you struggle with this, then try consistently praying more. Ask the Lord to speak to your heart and enlighten your mind. The more you know the Lord's love for you, and grow to love Him, the more you don't want to do anything outside of His plan. You don't want to hurt the One you love. When you come to understand His design, then you can see how we have no right to prevent or destroy human life, even under the guise of “mercy”, or start human embryos in a lab, or reconfigure genders, or redefine marriage into law. These are all things that have exploded into our culture these past fifty years as new advancements and "rights". But they do not reflect the will or rights of God if they are contrary to how He ordered things. Even if you just look at it from a natural, anthropological perspective, you can see how God ordered male and female, marriage, children and the family. And the stable family is the foundation to an ordered, healthy society.

The Triumph So, when we pray for the triumph of the rights of God, and of the Church, what exactly are we praying for? Is it the same thing that Jesus asked us to pray for when we say the Lord’s prayer? “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” And is it the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary? This is what Our Lady spoke of and asked us to pray for at Fatima, Portugal, "My Immaculate Heart will triumph." Why would Our Lord and Our Lady ask us to pray for something that couldn’t happen? Through some great outpouring of grace, such as Jesus foretold to Saint Faustina, why couldn’t people repent, the world change, and God's will be done on earth for a time?

A Sign in the Heavens"Write this: before I come as the Just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort: All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before the last day" Jesus to Saint Faustina (Divine Mercy in My Soul #83) “And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.” Isaiah 40:5 With trials in the world and the Church increasing, things look very dire. But let’s turn to Jesus and Our Mother Mary in trust. Let us PRAY for this triumph to come soon. And let each one of us, to the extent of our means, help secure the triumph. Ask the Lord to show you what He wants you to do for your part. You are here for an important purpose. A friend recently expressed it this way, “You were a thought in the mind of God from all eternity. He willed you to be. And so you are essential for His masterpiece.”

This the Lord says to you, “ Stand at the crossroads and look; as for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul.” Jeremiah 6:16 (May the Father, Son and Holy Ghost be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.)
